Small or Partial Cubes in Oakdene
Small or Partial Cubes in Oakdene, East Rand. Cubes are thin, small or only formed on part of the plate.
Urgency for this fault is normally priority. Ekurhuleni visits are grouped by area so restaurant and factory ice plant can be attended on the same run.
The ice plant here is mostly estate clubhouses, guest houses, small restaurants and private bars, so the work is weighted towards undercounter and small modular machines. Water in this part of Gauteng is moderately hard, so scale on evaporator plates, spray bars and float valves is the single most common reason output drifts below the plate rating.
We diagnose in order of likelihood rather than replacing parts speculatively: check sump level and float setting, then clear spray bars and distributors, then measure pump flow.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What causes small or partial cubes?
The usual causes are low water level in the sump, blocked spray bar sections, weak water pump, short freeze cycle from control drift. Which one applies is settled on site by measurement, not guesswork.
How quickly can you attend in Oakdene?
Priority attendance applies to this fault. Ekurhuleni visits are grouped by area so restaurant and factory ice plant can be attended on the same run. Call 069 268 0988 for the next available slot.
How is it diagnosed?
Check sump level and float setting; Clear spray bars and distributors; Measure pump flow; Time the freeze cycle; Read pressures and superheat.
Is this common on undercounter ice machines?
The most common fault on undercounter machines is not a fault at all: enclosed cabinetry starving the condenser of air. On undercounter ice machines in Oakdene we see this fault regularly, usually alongside overdue descaling.
Which service will fix it?
Ice Machine Maintenance Contracts normally resolves it. Standard visits are two to four hours per machine on a fixed schedule.
Can we keep operating in the meantime?
Sometimes — where the fault is a water-side problem the machine can often be run on reduced output until parts arrive. Where a compressor or leak is involved we advise buying in bagged ice while the repair is completed.
Small or Partial Cubes in Oakdene
Oakdene falls inside our core northern-suburb route, so response is normally same-day for loss-of-hot-water call-outs.
